Like Fluke?
I'm glad it's working out for you. If you really like it that much consider donating. All donations go towards hosting Fluke and occasionally a computer book.
So what do I do?
- Download and install Fluke.
Follow the installer steps and punch in your admin password when asked for it. - Restart iTunes.
If you've got iTunes or QuickTime running, restart them. - Listen to your FLACs!
Right-click/Ctrl+click on the FLAC files you want to add to iTunes and choose Open With > Other. Locate Fluke under your Applications and press OK. Or simply drag your FLACs onto Fluke's application icon. - Set as default.
If you would like to use Fluke for all your FLACs by default, in the Open With dialogue mark the "Always Open With" checkbox.
Under the Hood
Fluke is really quite simple. The installer you download installs the components necessary for it to work: XiphQT, FLACImporter, and Set OggS. Fluke itself is an AppleScript saved as an application bundle. I kept the script inside the bundle editable so it's all nice and open-saucy.
To Do's
- Filter Input. Currently Fluke doesn't check what files you feed into it. It really should have a clause to know that those JPEGs you are choking it with aren't gonna fly.
- Folder Input. Add folder contents iterating to allow easy adding of entire albums straight into iTunes.
Feedback & Cred
The credit goes to the programmers of the libraries Fluke uses. Even though I stayed awake for two days straight making this, my efforts are too puny compared to what those guys have put in.
Now, I'm still learning, so if Fluke is acting up do leave a comment on my blog or email at dimakichenko at yahoo dot ca.
